@thebugiq nominated me to take part in this challenge which originated with @snowpea. It’s been sitting on my to do list for a few days now and seems it is time I added a tick mark to it.
The Rules
...short version, as taken from @pundito's post
- List five things you love
- List five things you dislike
- Use the tag loveitshoveit
- Tag five people to take part, but anyone can join in
Five I Love:
People working together toward a common goal
— Now that doesn’t mean they are all in lockstep. It does mean they are able to work together, overcome differences and pull toward a common goal. It’s a great feeling when progress is made.Silence
— I know, a lot of people like sound of some sort when they are working. I prefer quiet, so I can focus on what I’m doing and hear my own thoughts without distraction. I do have to admit though, being owned by a tomcat with a loud purr who loves laying on my lap, I don’t always get silence.Instant Pot
— No, that is not some fancy new way to enjoy your weed. The Instant Pot is a multifunctional cooking pot. I was looking to replace my slow cooker when @artemisnorth started telling me about them. I had never used a pressure cooker before and now totally love having one. Right now I have baked beans on the slow cooker setting after having used the pressure cooker to get the beans ready to use. I can also saute, steam, cook rice, make yogurt and keep food warm.Rural living
— I live in the country. Close to the village but far enough away I don’t have to deal with the noise that community living can produce. My neighbours are close enough that if I needed help, I could call and they’d be here in minutes. Far enough away, I keep my privacy and peace.Cat Surround Time
— I have the company of two cats, Dawn and Fawnya. I know a lot of people think cats are pretty independent and aloof but with people they bond with, they aren’t. We have this ritual in the morning that takes place while I’m having my coffee. First Fawnya finishes his breakfast and joins me on the couch. He lays down with his head on my leg. Then Dawn joins in by curling up on my chest. She’s small enough that I can type around her. It’s seems chaotic but there is a quiet routine that is taking place. When they are there, it tells me that all is right in our world.
Five Shove Its:
Bigoted Individuals
— We all have our biases when it comes to interactions with others. Most people will put those aside and deal with individuals as individuals. We might be cautious because of our own internal biases but we don’t hate on the person because of who they are. We certainly would not want to be hated on for who we are. We all know people who hate on certain groups of people and think they have the right to express and act on that hate. IMO they are bullies or trying to be. People can’t help how they were brought into the world. At the end of the day, people are still people and each individual is either a person you’d want to know, or not, based on their own personality.Black and White Thinkers
— thinker is the wrong image to attribute to people who try to look at the world through black and white lenses. The world is not ‘this or that’ with nothing in between. There is way more gray in the world than black or white. My usual experiences with people with a black and white worldview is they have closed minds, a narrow range of knowledge and a determination to not have that view changed powerful enough that they could move mountains if they really wanted to use their minds.People Remodellers
— People who take it upon themselves to not only tell you how you should handle something, but think it is okay to tell you ‘don’t be you’. We are who we are, how we deal with any situation is part of our own personality makeup. We all have times where we could have approached a situation differently. That differently has to fit with our personality, otherwise our authenticity goes out the door. Telling someone ‘don’t be you’ is sending them a message that you consider that person to be somewhat defective. And none of us have that right to judge.Lazy Ass Complainers
— a phrase I have often used during four decades of volunteerism is “those who do the least, bitch the most”. That has been a truth I have seen play out repeatedly. People in an organization or group who avoid doing the work it takes to make the group work but will constantly snipe at and complain about those who are working hard to support it. The workers are not perfect, but at least they are willing to get off their butts and do the work.Green and Yellow Beans
— I like most vegetables. But green and yellow beans, don’t grace my plate with them unless you like seeing food getting thrown out.
That was harder than I expected but, I muddled through it.
My Five Victims … err Nominations
Play along, it could be fun. Then you get to choose five of your own.
