I found these lovely primrose plants at Aldi for less than a dollar each. Unbelievable, right?!
The cheerful looking flowers on the primrose are the perfect way to brighten up my kitchen windowsill and make me forget about winter till Spring arrives!
After buying a couple primrose plants, I researched how to grow them indoors.
The plants need bright light, either direct or indirect. Primroses indoors are very susceptible to root rot. Do not over water them. Water as soon as the top of the soil feels dry, but do not allow the soil to dry out as they will wilt and die quickly in dry soil. Primroses indoors require high humidity that can be achieved by placing the plant on a pebble tray. Primroses do best in temperatures below 80 F and thrive between 50 and 65 F(10-18 C). Primroses appreciate a light application of fertilizer throughout the growing season. Regularly prune dead leaves and blooms.
Lastly, the Internet tried to discourage me by saying I have a 50/50 chance the primrose plant will live indoors.
Ptff! I accept the challenge!
