The Art of the Struggle
I love the catharsis of creation, I may even be a tad bit addicted to it.
Writing music is my passion, it’s not just something I do, it’s who I am.
This is both a blessing and a curse.
I’m sure many struggling artists can relate to these ideas.
A few years ago I decided to take my life’s work and turn it into an album. It ended up being what was the most difficult task of my life.
After 2 years of blood, sweat, tears, neurosis, and $25,000 later, I finally had my finished product of which I am very proud!
I’ve never had the desire to be a performer, I just love to create music.
So, what options did I have to make any money from my art?
No one really buys music anymore, especially if you’re an unknown artist.
There are a ton of options for promoting your music but they all cost money and they are also like trying to win the lottery.
Basically, I found absolutely no joy in trying to promote my art so I chose to stop doing something that was only bringing me misery.
Then, the husband found Steemit.
I’m only a tiny minnow, but I’ve been more successful, and have made more money from my art than I have anywhere else and any time before this.
