Originally native to Mexico, this fruit was later transplanted to Central America. Nowadays they are cultivated mainly in South East Asia, United States, Israel and the Canary Islands among others.

I am sure you gonna guess it rapidly this time! Yes the fruit comes from a cactus tree! That's how it looks like on it's tree.
This fruit's texture is sometimes compared to kiwi due to it's black and crunchy seeds! The flesh is mildly sweet and low in calories. I just love this fruit!
The fruit seeds have a nutty taste and the flesh is usually converted in juices or wine! The flowers too are edible and used in tea infusion!
