Hello all, here is my mtb ride from this morning, 15.7 miles and 2,400 ft of climbing. The bike is a 2010 Santa Cruz Blur LTc, 160 Fox fork & fox 5" shock. (An old school 26'er)
GPS data from a Garmin Vivoactive HR, Wahoo fitness HRM and uploaded to Strava.
The road to Soquel Demonstration Forest is on Highland way which is running along a ridge between Santa Clara county and Santa Cruz. I stopped on the way there to snap this shot looking towards Santa Cruz, you can see the blue Pacific Ocean just under the horizon.
I was waiting for a friend that was running a few minutes late and snapped a few pre ride shots. The color of my bike sure complements the surroundings!
There is a creek running along Highland way and right next to the parking area. It was a cold morning in the upper 40's and there is a lot of nice green moss growing on the surrounding trees and rocks. The sun made it's way through gaps in the dense forest illuminating certain areas.
Taking a break at the bottom after a 3.5 mile downhill on the flow trail. This is the fireroad you take up back to the parking lot or for another DH run.
This park is really nice a quite, even when there are a lot of cars in the parking lot, you do not run into too many people. There are large redwood trees everywhere, ferns and just about everything is green. Nice cool fresh air off of the coast is a plus.
Hope you all had a great/beautiful Sunday!
