Hello Steemians,
I hope you all are having a great day and If not don't worry I can't go as bad as mine. So I watched a movie or to be precise the sequel to a movie which I liked. A movie about giant robots punching super monsters and crazy cool action with a heck of badass Idris Elba. so obviously I was hyped about the movie and I waited patiently for the BR to come out. I avoided the movie in theater as I was busy at that moment and I avoided spoilers and reviews too. Do you know how hard it is?
Anyway so after waiting for days and days after the release I was all set for this action movie. And what I was served with can't be described in words. But I will try too... Let's dive in to what I consider is a category 5 S#it.
This is "Pacific Rim 2 : The uprising"
of stupid writers.
Spoiler Alert: Before I start bashing the Kaiju brains of this movie it's only fair to give a spoiler alert that I am gonna talk about some plot point of this movie and story and character. Unless you are a big fan of Robot vs Monster kinda movie stay clear of this one.
So the movie starts with the time jump of 10 years from the awesomeness that is the first part. And reveals the main character Jake Pentecost played by John Boyega (The dude from star war seven and eighth part still in his star war suit) who is the son of Idris Elba sorry the character played by Idris Elba (Funny there was no mention of him or any indication was there in the first part, Damn it I keep going back to first one). He makes living of selling Jaeger parts and gets arrested with an unauthorized jaeger. with the second lead (sigh) a kid named Amara played by Cailee Spaeny. And they are given a choice to either to join the Kaiju fighting group (Pan-Pacific Defence Crop) or prison. so obviously they chose PPDC over prison.
So, here you get the first look at the shatterdome in about 10 movie years. And some awesome looking giant robots were introduced in the scene. With the description spilled out by the 12 year old kid. Arrrghhh!!! that was just annoying, Plain annoying.. She was just saying words and nothing more... Anyway I was waiting for the alarm to go off saying something like kajiu or alien invasion or something. But we were introduced to more Kids. Dammit!!!! They are taking notes from transformer, I mean why on earth would you add more kids to the cast. You need seasoned pilots or atleast character which can create impact on the storyline. And just to show how diverse they are and how united the world is they have crammed stereotype form each country. You know the Including the shy indian guy, an angry russian and cool looking japanese and.... Oh my god!!! the rest of the weren't even introduced, they are the character who will be remembered as the guy in the pink robot... wait scratch that nothing in this movie is worth remembering.
Moving on to the next scene which introduced characters from first installment Charlie Day as Dr Newt and Burn Gorman as Dr Herman, the geek heroes. No worries there then the beautiful lady Rinko Kikuchi steps in as Mako to introduce the plot point that Shao Industry, a company is planning on introducing the drones to Jaeger programme which enables them to have one pilot running the jaeger without problems but she thinks that its too much of risk. Thank God!!! someone has watched Iron Man 2. The story moves forward where the summit is organised for getting to a conclusion and the Jaeger Gypsy piloted by jake and Scott Eastwood as Nate, who has some problems with jake but the movie thinks that's not important so we ended up another character who is being a dick without any reason. So the event was about to begin when a rouge Jaeger attacks outta of nowhere and kicks Gypsys ass. And it killed Mako too.
While the PPDC is trying to decode it is revealed that Newt was actually been drifting with Kaiju And weird enough is actually having some kinda a relationship. meanwhile just to increase the run time the movie did try to show character development by having russian chick getting angry when the amara called her by name, and them getting into a brawl. Good News was the PPDC has found out the location of the Obsidian fury, the rouge jaeger which handed the ass to the gypsy. After another fight the heroes has discovered that the rogue jaeger was controlled by a kaiju brain developed on earth. And they come up with conclusion that the Shao industry was behind the attack, meanwhile their drones were approved and were being deployed at that very moment.
And as predicted the drones went evil and attacked many places and were trying to open the portal to the other dimensions for the kaijus. They somehow disabled the drones but it was too late as 3 giant kaijus has gotten through. And the rest is video montages of them repairing the Jaeger,upgrading the jaeger, a small speech and a big fight where the kaijus combine to form a mega kaiju and munch on these jaegers and they killed off the Indian guy.
To be honest I am pissed off with this movie. At times you feel like you are watching a transformer. I hate those. The first part has its fair share of the dumb moments but I was able to enjoy it but here just for the sake of moving the plot they had the Newt gone bad and some kaiju/ jaeger hybrid. And to top it all the Kids in the final battle. There are moments that I enjoyed very much like the kick ass battle between obsidian fury and Gypsy. on the whole it was a mashup of the Iron Man 2, Transformers and Godzilla. Anyway I am not looking forward to the third part unless they bring back Guillermo del Toro as the director, at least that guy gives us hope. I am not saying this film is bad, But Its not that good as the first one was.

And what a way to ruin a franchise. Sigh
Note - This is my personal view of the Movie "Pacific Rim 2", And it is to be taken lightly. All the comments that I made were on the performance of these actors and not the actor themselves. Do not take my word as a word of an expert. I am no expert yet. :D
