Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out

There's something about Franz Ferdinand. The beat changes in the basic beat. The lyrics. The post punkness. I don't know. It's hard to be precise. There's something about Franz Ferdinand that I just love love love. Especially this song. This is too slow to dance and too odd to sing with. But there's something about it, and it is their most known song.

Now that Franz Ferdinand has taken us out, it's time to move to the next song. As F.F. said: "I know I won't be leaving here with you."

I know the next song is totally unknown for most (all) of you and probably sounds weird as hell, but I just have to leave this here. This is from Finland and it's in Finnish.

Tundramatiks - Mä Lähen Himaan (I'll go home)

The chorus:

I'll go home if nobody notices me
I'll go home if nobody notices me
I'll go home if these feathers and courtship dances do not interest anyone
No one
I'll go home if everyone can see that underneath ruffles only me
Only me

This song is weird and that's why I love it. Tundramatiks has a certain slavic sound in their music. And I like it when genres collide and mix.

Let's stay in Finland for a while. At least for a second song. Nightwish - Sleeping Sun Nightwish isn't one of my favorite bands, but it certainly isn't one of the worst bands either. Nevertheless they have this one song that at first seems to be just another song in the world. Until the chorus hits. Again I just cant pinpoint it, but for some factor, this brings tears in to my eyes. Tearfactor. Every, single, time. It is amazing.

Speaking of tears, this one gets me too. But at the same time as this is a kind of a sad song, this is so hopeful. Sad, peaceful and hopeful.

Picture this: You have busted your as at work. You're so tired, sweaty and exhausted, that you could just collide right there on the floor. Just lay down and sleep. You're so tired that you can't even think anymore, let alone speak to anyone. The only thing that keeps you going is the thought that the day is finally over and you can go home. You gather your stuff, open the door, step outside and it's the most beautiful evening you've ever seen. Summer sun hanging around the horizon, warm and light breeze, clean air. And although you are tired, you want to walk home instead of sitting in the bus, listen at the birds and breathe in the tranquility of the universe. You know that everything is going to be alright.

Amanda Marshall - Dark Horse

Let's continue with the hopeful but sad songs. Don Henley - For My Wedding and Mark Knopfler - Prairie Wedding These songs slowly capture you in their warm embrace. Sneak in to your heart. That's what love does. A promise of warm and secure life but a hint of sadness in the background. Someday it'll end. Someday everything ceases to exist.

It can be bittersweet like Annie Lennox - Into The West or it can be overwhelming, lonely and melancholic like Emiliana Torrini - Gollum's Song. Then all you have left are the memories. Garth Brooks - The Dance. The ultimate tearfactor. Country + Garth Brooks + The Dance.

But hey, there's always Yellow Halo. This song will pic up the peaces left on the floor. It doesn't promise anything grand or magnificent. It's just a small reminder of what's good in life. The echoes of music.

Goldfrapp - Yellow Halo

This is one of the songs that, as before Amanda Marshalls Dark Horse, at the same time it is sad and hopeful. But it also promises something more. Not necessarily tranquility or peace of mind, but power and strength to carry on.

Laleh - Some Die Young

Just like Journey - Don't Stop Believin'. This song can take you anywhere you want. Power and determination. Can you hear it too?

After all, wouldn't you want every day to be that kind of a day? What kind of a day, you ask? Well, the kind where you can just Irish line dance your way into everywhere! Patrick Street - Music For A Found Harmonium
