When Stan Lee set out to create the all incredible Hulk back in the 60's, he found inspiration in the stories such as Frankenstein, Dr.Jekyll and The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
First edition came out in the May 1962, and was penciled and co-plotted by Jack Kirby and inked by Paul Reinman. Hulk went through a long journey until he came to be as popular as he is today, a year after his first issue was published, he got cancelled and then afterwards only guest starred in the other comics as either an antagonist or a superhero.
When a certain college dormitory decided to took Hulk as a official mascot, Lee realized their character had found an audience in college-age readers.
Stan Lee originally made Hulk grey, to avoid the character being placed in any of the ethnic groups, but that specific color presented challenges for the illustrators as it appeared in different shades in the comics, so they went for the green. Two movies came out in 1977, followed by excellent critics that led to an Incredible Hulk TV series which aired from 1978 to 1982, which drove even more success to a Hulk trademark.
I've chosen Hulk for my entry because I've liked the 1996's music theme, it's quality was pretty bad as you can hear at the start of the track, so I figured I will recompose it my self instead of sampling the theme., but still use it as an intro for the song to show the basis. The intention behind my track is to show the character of the Hulk through music, hence the choice to come out strong and stay strong throughout the track.
I created the beats with the Battery 4 in Ableton, using Dr.Driller kit. It seemed very suitable for me that Hulk gets this kind of Dub Steppy beat and tunes. The music theme I recomposed with the Spitfire Masse, an orchestra emulation loaded into Kontakt 5, and the second part of the variation on theme is made with Massive.
