Album Review: Thievery Corporation - The Temple Of I & I

Bringing the worlds of Dub and Reggae with Lounge and Downtempo, Thievery Corporation just dropped their new album The Temple Of I & I. Staying true to their distinctive sound they add another 15 tracks to their vast collection. Featuring 10 tracks with various artists we already heard in their previous productions like Loulou Ghelichkhani and Shana Haligan, Puma, Notch, along with a handful of artists joining the gang.

The album has a heavy reggae vibe to it, but it still retains Thievery Corporation’s characteristic mellow vibe. Right from the first tracks, we strat with the reggae artist Zee, praising Jah and the power of faith. Following appearances by Mr. Lif and Racquel Jones. As a whole, the album is very well done artistically and technically with an unexpected reggae vibe that not only deadheads will enjoy. As always their music has a deep sound to it with space atmospheres filling the grooves. Songs of love, heartbreak, political injustice, fighting for freedom are some of the main themes dominating throughout their musical career. Thievery Corporation is one of those music projects that makes music that never gets old, in fact, it gets better the more you listen to it. I enjoy every release they put out there, and this album is no exception!
