Prophets of Rage is a supergroup, created in May 2016, merging Rage Against The Machine, Cypress Hill singer and Public Enemy members.
Last week I was at their concert in the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, part of the Make America Rage Again tour.
It was AWESOME.
Quick info: Prophets of Rage group consists of three members of Rage Against the Machine (bassist and backing vocalist Tim Commerford, guitarist Tom Morello, and drummer Brad Wilk), two members of Public Enemy (rapper Chuck D and DJ Lord), and rapper B-Real of Cypress Hill.
Tickets, crazy good seats, AwolNation and the Steemit Watch!
Here we are, at the Shoreline Theatre.
The concert started with Awolnation, a California band known for their single “Sail”
They did a pretty good job for this first part, and their singer even went back on stage during the main even to sing with the Prophets.
And of course, Steemit was there, and with some of the best seats available:
“The best f***ing band in the universe.”
Yes, Mary Morello arrived. She is Tom Morello’s granny, and did rare RATM openings. and tonight she introduced them as “The best fing band in the universe.”*
The bad arrived soon after, wearing a 49ers number 7 jersey, and waiting on the ground during the National Anthem. This happening was done in the honor of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick who sat in protest during the national anthem for a pre-season game, saying he would not honor a song nor "show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color."
Now, let's start to RAGE!
Starting with their main song Prophets of Rage, then Guerrilla Radio (Rage Against the Machine cover)
and Bombtrack (Rage Against the Machine cover).
Tom Morello still has it!
This is the moment you realize that Rage Against the Machine would have been nothing without the genius that is Tom Morello. Being a guitarist, the way he plays amazes me: He does not play the axe like anyone I’ve ever seen before.
He did a fantastic show, using all his skills to make heavy metal and rap groove together, and make America rage again!
Cypress Hill and Public Enemy are the catalysts
At first, and being a Rage Against the Machine hardcore fan, I was not sure about what would bring rap superstars Chuck D and B-real. Even if I like Cypress hill, I was a bit doubtful…
I was wrong. These rap guys ROCK like crazy. They make the show.
They did a medley of songs while walking in the crowd.
C’mon Steemit, Make America Rage Again!
So that’s it: Rage against the machine is BACK, and alongside Morello are Chuck D and B-real, making one of the hottest bands today. I can say without any doubt: This concert was one of the best I ever attended to.
