In this video, I talk about the pros and cons of studying a masters degree in music production after now graduating with a masters degree in music production yesterday.
Now that we live in a digital age, where information is easily available, it seems that more and more people online are saying that you don't need to go to university to learn valuable skills, which I agree with to an extent.
University, however, can be a useful place to meet like minded contacts and to get access to a lot of expensive equipment and facilities, but studying just to gain a qualification isn't really worth the time and money in my opinion.
Gaining a post graduate degree if you wish to go up the corporate ladder may be useful to potentially impress some employers, but in the art and music sector, learning and demonstrating skills is BY FAR a lot more important than studying a subject just to some additional letters at the end of your name.
So in this video, I sum up what I believe are the pros and cons of postgraduate study and whether or not it is suitable for you.
It is an expensive luxury at the end of the day, which is not necessarily needed, but it can help if you wish to meet a lot of like-minded people and rapidly improve your skills in the subject, but there are definitely cheaper and maybe as effective way of doing this too.
