Earlier today, the statement 'My Niche' came around. I didn't even know I had one...
It had bounced out at me on the internet and somehow settled in the back of my grey cells: "What is my Niche?"
I honestly didn't know, so I didn't try to answer. Just kept on flicking through the different posts.
15 minutes ago something made me stop. I have Adele blaring out of the speakers in the back room, ironing my husbands work shirts and singing away at the top of my voice (please do not say that I can't multitask!!). I realized one thing - I have a Niche alright. I am the most amazing wife and mother!
To explain a bit better, I have to tell you more about myself. I used to be a career chick. I have my Masters and a decade ago I worked in a major Melbourne Hospital; in fact I've worked in a few major Melbourne hospitals. This all meant nothing to me, because I had never fallen in love, had no family and had no child.
There is no more horrible feeling than wanting a child and thinking you just can't have one.
I went this way into my 40's, work focused and maybe friends and family on the side. But then an amazing thing happened: I fell in love! Even better - he fell in love with me. Even better - we got engaged and I fell pregnant. All in a couple of years!!
One of the reasons my Niche is being a wife and mother (and the reason I'm so damn good at it) is that I appreciate it. Instead of griping at having to do the ironing, I'm happy to put power chick music on and bounce around and just do it!
I spent so many years thinking these were things I could never have - the nappies to change, the little mouth to feed and little hands to hold. Well, I got them; and the job at the hospital is now just a part time occupation to help with the food on the table - nothing more.
I love blogging about the house, the family and especially the Little Man on Steemit. They are my world and have definitely become 'my Niche'.
