I feel a passion for my hobby because my words have power
Which means anything I write or rap can save or devour
I know you didn't want examples of my hobby but here
My rhyming structures help to make my explanations more clear
I picked up doing HipHop while listening to the radio
I loved the rhythmic flowing but thought the content debatable
I hated all the negative messages being instilled
Knowing the children were absorbing the darkness while sitting still
I wanted to create something better and more inspiring
I practice 'til I lose my voice and much perspiring
I take it very seriously, knowing music changes lives
Because the elites use it as a weapon for our very own demise
They've already perverted HipHop from being conscious to lost souls
So I combat the opposition with caring lyrics and higher goals
Over 17 years, I've been an emcee dedicated
Holding to my morality, ensuring I've resonated
Always expanding my approach and strengthening weaknesses
I test my limitations and enhance uniquenesses
Grounded on fundamentals, know what old school antiqueness is
Fused with quicker flowing styles, and poetic wit, sleeknesses
I used to be terrible, horrible, and arhythmically off the scale
I tried hard to force my tones and resorting to even yell
I never gave up, amongst the critics I didn't bail
I'd still be inside the studio booth until I was pale
Emceeing provides an outlet for me to express my mind
Talk about different topics, and getting my thoughts in line
Of course the writing's hard when I'm forcing it out sometimes
But the flowing and right delivery's more difficult to sound the rhymes
You gotta have breath control, you don't wanna try too hard
You want to be demonstrative, and energetically charged
Put on a good performance and bring the music to life
Enunciate your words clearly, flow as sharp as a knife
The voice is a pure percussion in this style of music
So when us rappers are off beat, it will never sound fluid
That's like listening to a drummer, drum a tempo too slow
Or sloppily hitting rhythms too quickly during the middle of a live show
Rap takes away the stress and it uplifts the people
It uplifts myself, and afterwards I feel gleeful
If it was easy to do, I wouldn't enjoy it as much
I like to grow as an artist, and not rely on a crutch
I practice on the daily, in my mind and out-loud
Even if I'm not in the mood, won't leave my head in the clouds
I'll force myself to write, because my passion does fight
Complacency and slackness when I feel I lack might
God gave me the gift of music, a gift that's worth sharing
I spread it to all willing to listen without me swearing
Not tearing the people down, but causing them to think and ponder
From topics to here and yonder, to guide them, of those who wander
A role model is what I am, and I fuse my faith within this gift
The teachings of Jesus Christ, such as His love is not a rift
It is a high priority to use the gift that God keeps giving
To share the Holy Gospel and positive messages for us now living
The music is a form of expression that's universal
I keep on moving forward with no plans for reversal
I aim to captivate the scatterers who move in dispersal
And motivate with a powerful voice, it's no rehearsal
Not every line is great, but each line helps me to grow
God, family and friends are first and foremost in that row
Hip Hop can be expensive when buying the right equipment
But the investment is worth the while, I'm still waiting on more shipments
An emcee is only skills, the equipment is just for quality
Making for great productions, videos, songs and recording audibly
I can rap acapella because the music is from within
Others rely on technology for live performances to help them win
I don't rap for adoration, but hope my message's appreciated
We need more positive conscious music, instead of materialistic-degrading hatred
I can consider myself an expert, but stay humble, best not to boast
I'm still only just a human, and being the best I'm not even close
No need to compare myself to others at any given time
I'll be the best of me whenever I tether flows with driven rhymes
There are so many different aspects to a versatile emcee
So that's what I aim to be, and not focus on one ability
The best emcees can do it all, from different paces to having cadence
Aggression or loud projection, stage presence and more than basics
They can utilize slick wordplay and map out entire schemes
Paint a picture with their words or use a song to show you dreams
Storytellers who captivate and teach a lesson in the process
Always are breaking ground and showing they're making progress
Rarely stumble or choke at all, taking the moment serious
Leaving the hearers awed and naysayers seen as delirious
They have varied rhythmic approaches and styles they can enable
Freestyle is underrated and pros are never unstable
This is what separates the very best from the amateurs
And the double triple quadruple entendres have it a blur
Some can only flow fast but lack enunciation
Others are really lyrical but lack tone and have fluctuations
Too many sound the same and rap what mainstream just promotes
Barely try to craft a verse that's worthy of any quotes
I speak on many issues, and don't hesitate expressions
Crafting profound impressions that help to fight off depression
My music has saved some lives, prevented such suicide
And I'll keep making changes daily even if I'm scrutinized
HipHop is indeed my job and I'm one of the first to bring it to Steemit
And I keep it at the highest level, whether it's planned or if I wing it
If an alien were to show up and ask me to explain its properties
I would display all of the above and represent HipHop properly...
