Hello all my friends in Steemit, how are you this week? Well, hopefully keep the spirit!
This is my entry for #mypictureday challenge #photography by @timsaid this week. This is a photo I shot in Central Aceh District, or better known as the Gayo highlands, Aceh.
In Central Aceh, I shot a number of traditional Gayo horse racing photos that have existed for a long time, and still exist today.
Traditional Gayo horse racing is part of indigenous culture of Gayo land, even this horse racing becomes a festive party of the people. In one year, this horse race event was held twice, during the anniversary of Takengon City, Central Aceh, and the celebration of Indonesian Independence Day.
The uniqueness of this horse race, the jockey is a child aged 10 to 15 years, and also this horse race does not wear safety such as helmets, gloves, and elbow safety. While on the horse race in other areas are using the complete safety when competing for speed horse in the arena of the race.
Every time held this horse race event always makes me interested to come to Central Aceh, to see the action of these little jockeys spur the pace of the horse in the field. in addition, photographing the horse race becomes a challenge for me, because many moments that can happen in the course of traditional Gayo horse race.
