Street Market on Meugang Day in Aceh - MyPictureDay

Here is a photos story I took in the street market in Lhokseumawe, Aceh province, Indonesia. This is a picture of the crowd of Acehnese who is in the street market to buy beef sold along the market street on Meugang day.

Meugang is a day of Acehnese tradition that takes place 3 times a year, one day before of holy month Ramadan, Idul Fitri, and Eid al-Adha.

On the day of the Meugang tradition, beef vendors peddle their wares along the market street, and then the Aceh people buy the beef even though they buy a little because it is expensive. Then the beef is brought home and cooked to eat with their families.

This tradition has been going on for a long time in Aceh, and it is still being carried out by its people in order to keep the tradition in order not to become extinct with the development of modern times.

If you are street photography enthusiasts, you can visit Aceh to see and also capture the moment of the Day of the Meugang Tradition, because this tradition exists only in the province of Aceh, Indonesia.
