Exploring the Chain of Ponds Maine Area.

Today our Maine adventure has taken us to the area surrounding Jackman on the western side of Maine deep into the mountains, and lakes area of the State. The use of the term ponds, and lakes seem to be somewhat the same, and we will try to understand why that is. As you drive around the area French can be heard of the different radio stations coming out of Canada. Here the spirit of freedom is alive and well with people living a life away from the distractions of the modern world.

This area is about 3 1/2 hours away from Bangor and is referred to the Chain of Ponds area.

Here you will find ducks, swans, and deer grazing within the small fields along the way. The food of the area is fairly standard Maine cuisine, and yes lobster rolls are available in the countryside. It's much warmer this far into the interior of Maine, and the normal environment does not seem to be impacted by the coast much. Here thunder storms along with lighting seem more common.

As you drive, hike, and boat around Maine you cannot say enough how clean it is, and how well the people who live here not only sustain, protect, and keep their little area of the world litter free.
