The Scarlet Robin

The Scarlet Robin (Petroica multicolor) is found in the south-eastern and south-western parts of Australia, including here in Tasmania. It feeds on insects. You will often see it watching from a low perch, maybe a metre or so off the ground. Suddenly it drops down and takes some poor unsuspecting insect. It then flies back to it's perch until it spies another tasty morsel. The following shots were taken in my backyard.

In case anyone is interested, the photos were taken with a Canon 7D and Canon EF 400mm f5.6 L Lens.
