A few of my photos from the past week, hiking in the mountains in Kananaskis, AB, Canada. Luckily the snow has been fairly minimal so far, so some of these high peaks are easily still attainable. This one is a great scramble with 1000m of altitude gain over 7km to a ridge named, West Wind Ridge.
OK, so this is well into the valley, on the way up.
On the ridge here, looking back to the summit I just scrambled over.
A herd of 13 mountain sheep ran down below me as they heard me approaching. Amazing how fast they are on these slopes.
Several caves line the cliffs, and this one was actually a small tunnel through a large arch which had another nearby cave with a family of rocky mountain wood rats living in it with an active nest. I never saw any of the rats, but it was very active with lots of 'evidence'.
Great view out the end of the ridge towards Wind tower and Rimwall Mountains.
The sun continued to cast lights of ray down the valley, which I captures in this HDR photo of the whole amphitheater valley.
