Nature's House Keeper
Jeff took us out for frozen custard tonight and upon returning he asked if I'd seen the daffodils growing by the tree. I hadn't even noticed these beauties off to the side of the lawn. Indeed, no one planted them and they never had grown there prior. Jeff said (given the location below the tree) that birds planted the seeds. Hmmm, don't daffodils grow from bulbs?
Of course I ran over, setting my banana sundae boat down (ice cream forgotten!) to observe and photograph these lovely tokens of Spring in Pennsylvania.
This one had a freeloader, but upon close inspection, a house keeper. This little spider was working on catching dinner. It's tiny (so was he) but clearly I could see he had scored supper!
There had grown up two variety of daffodil, this variety has a pale center, light and delicate.
This daffodil has a bright splash of orange.
It was truly a wonderful surprise to top off my day!
