#NeedleworkMonday... Custom Jeans Upcycle Part 1

Last fall I was gifted a pair of decked out jeans. I absolutely Love them!

I have had many requests to make some...so...here is my first try!!

Start with a pair of jeans. This is perfect if you have a pair of jeans you Love but they are too small! It can be done with a pair that fit too!

The entire side seam needs to be cut out of both sides, cut the waistband as well. I was careful cutting near where the front pockets are sewn into the seam as I intend to sew them back into the new seam.

I have decided to decorate this pair with the Grateful Dead Dancing Bears down each leg. I drew up some templates, and cut them out of colorful corduroy.

Here are the pieces ready to be assembled. I chose to use one piece of stretchy corduroy behind the bears for comfort of fit through the waist and hips. Here is the general idea.

Well...that's as far as I got today...time to get my hands dirty in the garden!

Watch for Part 2...coming soon!!
