Hi everyone!
If you are in the Czech Republic today, you might wonder why many shops are closed and some special events are held at different places all over the country so let me inform you it is because we are celebrating the Liberation Day today!

Also known as the Victory Day, the Liberation Day is observed on May 8 every year and it is to commemorate the victory of the Allied Forces over the Nazis at the end of the World War II in 1945.

Interestingly enough, this public holiday has an unusually rich history as its official name as well as the date of observation have changed several times in the past decades.
