The Old Dog Presents: My Gift to The Community. A Transcript of Dan's Awesome Interview Where He Lauds Steemit!

50 SBD is worth $86.50 as I write this. Not bad here in Europe or North America but for @fisteganos, who lives in Lagos Nigeria it's life changing! Let's see why as we examine the facts!

@fisteganos is a great guy! He's humble, very bright, he's got a sharp wit and he considers himself blessed to have found Steemit by accident. You see, he was already blogging because he loves writing but with Steemit he's living a dream! Check out @fisteganos's blog. He knows how to paint pictures with words and looks deeply into himself and bares his soul!

How Life Changing Are Steemit Economics To a Steemer in Nigeria?

Let me give you just the basics because @fisteganos is going to let you in on the story behind the story in his next post!

  • The minimum salary in Nigeria is about 18,000 Naira a month and there are 300 Naira to the Dollar
  • That makes the minimum wage about $60 a month.
  • After getting ripped off on exchanging his SBD he was left with 32,023 Naira (should have been 40,000 he said)
  • Friends, 32,000 Naira is close to two months minimum wage in Nigeria!
  • @fisteganos has also earned SBD's by doing graphics jobs for fellow Steemers! This guy's a talent!
  • @fisteganos has an income stream by blogging!!!!! How cool is that!

Here's What Some More Research Shows!

The latest survey, provided by SalarySurvey, shows the statistics of salaries in Nigeria.  According to the study there are 23 job categories with different salary rates. According to the estimates, the average yearly salary in Nigeria is 658,324 NGN (USD3,596), with the maximum of 5,000,000 NGN (USD27,320) and the minimum of 37,000 NGN (USD202). Source

What is The Moral of The Story!

I meet a lot of Nigerians passing through Switzerland. They are strong, courageous, joyful, industrious and very spiritual. They would love to be back home but they came to Europe in search of work. In search of a better life! Almost always their search ends in despair, their dreams shattered. @fisteganos is at home fighting to make a living and having fun doing it! Bravo @fisteganos bravo!

What Do You Think?

  • Can Steemit change more and more lives?
  • Can you use steemgigs, gifting and following to help others?
  • Are you excited about what Steemit can do in countries that are less advantaged economically?
