Open mic week 47 A terrible cringy freestyle and a beat making process. WARNING: lots of strobs and lights in the second video

Hello steemians!

TL;DR crew, I dropped my open mic week 47 presentation, as well as made an instrumental out of the work i did.
The two videos are below, the openmic own, then the instrumental, please check out both,. . . .. . especially the second video

I decided to drop my entry for the open mic competition, something I've been meaning to do for months now, but found myself too busy or more rather, too shy to show my face.

So how I did this is quite funny, I'm a music producer, and I made sure I created something out of this at the end.

The only thing I set up in the freestyle below, was the tempo and hi hat click

The chords were improvised, the singing was improvised, everything else was just ''playing along''

I then studied the video i had made, and created a full 3 minute song out of it. . ... cool right?

Im petrified to see the outcome of my singing skills, i think its safe to say, I think singing is not for me.
P.S I even went off key around the 1:32 mark facepalm

Watch below, I even got the lyrics for you

My terrible freestyle!

  • dont mind my accent, im from Nigeria*

The terrible lyrics

I sing my song for you, girl you know that its true

I give you this freestyle and you know that its good

*I sing my song for you girl, you know that its cool. . . *

Yes im singing a frestyle for you and its true
Chorus1

Girl you know that the love I have for you,

is so important to me and that is something true

but you don't care whether I go or come

but its the love that we share and that's what I care for

girl you know that its you,. . .. girl you know that its you

*girl you know that its you, you know tha its you... *

I'm just a boy, singing my song, Im just a boy going awesome

Im singing songs like a little boy, im singing songs, cause you be on my head

basically started to lose my thoughts process here. . . ..

Make a beat out of you

get some headsets on, the bass is good

The final scene after 2 hours of tweaking and creating

This was what I ended up with after a while of creating and tweaking.
It wasn't hard to get the basic structure down as the melody in itself is pretty basic, where things get crazy is the chorus, which i infused some cinematic drum samples, as well as an afro snare and drum pattern to make things more dance -like. . . . .

Infused some afro life into the beat to bring out the dancer in you

Using two horns plugins

I had two sax patches, both running from kontakt on the song, the sensual sax, is what you hear on the chorus, the session pro is what can be heard in the beginning.

My session horns, used in its default settings

Sensual sax, great for midnight jazz, greater for getting them blues on

Adding all ear candies, and other elements

The bass runs on the verse, and just becomes static on the chorus, I felt I needed to create space for other elements on the chorus, especially the xylophone patch from nexus. All other things added were the 8-bit vocal shout, and the sweep that lead to the chorus.

That's my snare pattern for the verse section by the way, its simple rhythmic patten that goes well with the hat.

Converting to video

I carried the finished worked and dropped it in fl studio, so I could use Zgameeditor visualizer to create the video I needed.
The video I then created was automated to make the beat and visuals seem more in sync.

All in all, this was a very quick edit and its bound not to be perfect,

Also please not that I don't fully mix or master my uploads on steemit, it saves time and stress.

Wanna say a big thank and appreciation to @luzcypher for creating this contest, and to @pfunk for sponsoring it.
