Steemit Open Mic Week #83: Have You Ever Seen The Rain (Cover)

My take on an old song by Creedence Clearwater Revival from the album Pendulum, released in 1970. Written by John Fogerty. The song is a reflection on the coming storm that was the state of Fogerty's band at the time. His brother Tom was about to quit, and everyone could sense that even though they were on top of the world musically, that the band was on its last legs. And the following year, the band did, indeed, break up.

"Have you ever seen the rain, coming down on a sunny day". This line speaks volumes. Sometimes, even when the sun is shining and things are looking up and moving in the right direction, all we can see is that it's raining. I've been feeling a lot of what this song has to say lately, so I thought I'd sing y'all my version.

HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THE RAIN
words and music by John Fogerty

Someone told me long ago
There's a calm before the storm
I know it's been comin' for some time
When it's over so they say
It'll rain a sunny day
I know shinin' down like water

I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain?
I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain
Comin' down on a sunny day?

Yesterday and days before
Sun is cold and rain is hard
I know been that way for all my time
'Til forever, on it goes
Through the circle, fast and slow,
I know it can't stop, I wonder

I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain?
I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain
Comin' down on a sunny day?
