This competition is a constant source of inspiration. I have run a few musical evenings and open mics in my time, and I love that whole thing where someone's song makes you think of a song you can play in return. Or someone in the audience might make a comment and that leads to the next song choice.
It's a musical conversation and if it's done well can help make an enjoyable evening of music even more special.
With that in mind I am inspired today by @blarson77 and his tune Winter Hills. It's in Drop D and there's just no mistaking that awesome sound. You can pull of some great riffs that wind in and out of the music a little more easily than with standard, I find.
This song is called So Glad You're Here and I wrote it last year around the time that I discovered (again) that an overwhelmingly positive attitude to life really can work wonders. I felt like I had come home. Cheesy I know, but hey, what are you going to do?
So Glad You're Here
by Tim Wakefield
I'm coming home....
After all this time.
I'm on my way home....
After all this time.
I can almost see here standing there in the doorway waiting for me.
I can almost feel those arms around me...
Holding me so close...
Whispering in my ear...
"I missed you honey, and I'm so glad you're here."
Repeat verse chorus.
I'm so glad you're here.
Oh, I missed you honey.
I'm so glad that you're here.
Oh I missed you honey, and I'm so glad you're here.
