Open Mic Week 65: THE CIVIL WARS (cover) - From This Valley

Happy to be contributing again to the Open Mic for a 3-week streak! Thanks as always to all of those responsible for this great opportunity for musicians to share with the rest of the platform in a meaningful and more high-profile way. It's been so nice to have the chance to connect with so many new people through first running into each other through the Open Mic.

This week it's a cover (by a band I love even though they have dis-banded) - although I have a very fun, very different-for-me ORIGINAL planned to share next week's open mic, so stay tuned. :).

As always, lyrics below.

Wet hair! I know - but I'm going out of town for wedding soon and am in between errands and wanted to make sure I got it in!

"From This Valley"

Oh the desert dreams of a river
That will run down to the sea
Like my heart longs for an ocean
To wash down over me

Oh won't you take me from this valley
To that mountain high above
Oh I will pray, pray, pray till I see your smiling face
I will pray, pray, pray to the one that I love

Oh the outcast dreams of acceptance
Just to find pure love's embrace
Like an orphan longs for its mother
May you hold me in your grace

Oh won't you take me from this valley
To that mountain high above
Oh I will pray, pray, pray till I see your smiling face
I will pray, pray, pray to the one that I love

Oh the caged bird dreams of a strong wind
That will flow beneath her wings
Like a voice longs for a melody
Oh Jesus, carry me

Oh won't you take me from this valley
To that mountain high above
Oh I will pray, pray, pray till I see your smiling face
I will pray, pray, pray to the one that I love

Oh I will pray, pray, pray till I see your smiling face
I will pray, pray, pray to the one that I love

Xx,
Kay
