Steemit Open Mic Week 66: Original Song "Forever" by KAY CLARITY

Hi!

For a while I was writing a bunch of songs on the theme of youth--I find as a writer I will often be preoccupied by certain things, and often work through those things through the act of writing. So: I have a lot of songs on this theme, as is normal when a theme sort of grips me for a while. This one is among my favourites, and is off of my album I released this fall called The Jewel Collections (I will link it at the bottom for those interested in hearing more).

[UPDATE: if you would like a copy of the studio version of this, just shoot me 0.001 SBD and put your email in the memo. I'll happily add you to the list and send the song on to you!]

I was hoping to capture the essence of youth--freedom, possibility, childlikeness, joy, and the nostalgia of that experience as a kid, as well as call all of us jaded ones back into that space--to not let the heaviness of life win.

Hope you enjoy. Lyrics below.

Forever

You were once a child
Caught in the wildflowers
Hoping on a dream

I remember you
Full of all the blue skies
Running through the streets

Oh, can I keep you like that
Forever, forever?
Don’t let time have the last laugh
Go back to forever

Able-bodied man
Does your heart stand stoic,
Beating just to breathe?

You were young once
Just life-drunk sober
Always saw honey in the bees

{Chorus}

It’s a fight, it’s fight to finally find yourself
It’s a fight, I know it is
It’s a fight, but I will fight by your side forever
Forever

{Chorus}
