Heya guys, first up a big happy birthday to steemit open mic !!!!! congrats on rocking the big 2 yrs old !!!!!! much love :)

ok so about a month ago while i was rocking it out on Copes Corner Pirate Radio over on MSP i played a track by Sara Bareilles called "Gravity". The audience members and myself started getting into a bit of a chat about the track and the video clip being i one shot clip, i have a "thing" for one shot clips because you have to get everything right in one go... this pleases my ocd, lol.

After some back and forth there was some discussion on if i should cover this track for an open mic entry, ankapolo & staceyjean were super supportive and encouraging, so it was decided that i would "Just do it!!!"

Just Do It!!!

After a couple of weeks very on and off of practice i managed to put it together and demo it on another show on MSP, it seemed to go down well enough so it seemed that it was polished enough to record... but my health issues had other ideas, maybe i should have recorded that first performance, lolz. Anyways, i managed to get a recording in this week, bit rough round the edges but gave it what i could at the time :)

I think that one of the most difficult things im finding with recording like this is the balance between how the audio is picked up on the recording. It may not seem like it, but what im doing in the the verses is almost whispered and the chorus is pretty much yelled. Where I position myself in reference to the mic is a factor im still learning to contend with in my current set up, but im having fun learning bout optimizing recordings with what i got even if it can be challenging at times.

So... after all that , lolz. This is the tale of how it came to be that my steemit open mic entry for week 104 is a cover of Sara Bareilles - Gravity, I dedicate this track to @ankapolo and @staceyjean for being awesome steemians and great mates :) much love and copious hugs in your direction guys :)
