"Tulips with the flower of life" ( 16 x 20 inch oil on canvas )
I made this painting for my patient and his mom and dad, their son was admitted in our unit due to falling from the balcony (due to drugs and alcohol) ending up brain dead, same age as me, he is an aspiring rock star, he could have been famous as he post alot in youtube with their concerts. but after that he was what we call "PVS" or persisitent vegetative state. his eyes are always open as if staring blank, but i believe that even if he is brain dead, the soul still remains, as i see him cry often.
His parents were always there everyday. After their 8 hr job, they go straight to the hospital to take care of their son till midnight, and they did that for 2 years straight. Its really hard being a caregiver, because they're really the shock absorbers. I love entertaining and spending time with them, as they are a family of artist, the dad has a passion for art and painting. He uses any medium he can use, well in our case, he uses the white board and almost every month, he has a new art on the board using temporary markers.
they also love making designs at flowers, specially tulip, which made me want to paint that subject.
The bottom part is how they design the flowers at the nurses station, its a lovely sight to see! So i research about its significance and meaning behind it fits perfectly, synchronicity i guess. Here is how interpret it:
The tulip spirit, has a colorful personality, both literally and figuratively. They come in every color of the rainbow. Most people associate them with perfect love!
With tulips, you only plant it once, and it returns every spring representing, renewal, reincarnation and the eternal nature of the soul.
I always include the flower of life in my paintings and embosse it at the beginning as it represent the soul of the painting as it shows and feels, the imprint of who we really are, as eternal beings of love!
This flower assist you, in finding the divine beyond words. It pulsates to higher places, with a big picture of salvation and transcendance. It is a portal of joy.
This painting stayed with the patient for almost a year till he passed away. This is a remembrance for them, as we the caregivers, give part of our lives to give comfort to the families and patients. We make them feel at home, and in good times and bad, we never judge them for who and how they are, we just know that we dedicate our lives to improve their lives. They thanked me for this gift as, rather than sorrow or depression, this painting brings a joyful memory for them.
Thank you for your time viewing and reading how i interpret this painting!
