Common mistake for many, including myself is not to prepare the house ready for the new four legged member of the family. I have not planned having a cat considering that I have already two dogs. However it just happened and I took Furry home, rescuing her form the street. Since the beginning I posted a lot about my cat and some images may be repeated. Apology for that.

Furry was so tiny that my thoughts were to keep her away from the dogs as they could harm her.

Actually they have never been aggressive to cats and they were just curious, a little bit jealous when we have a cat at home.

The other reason to keep her away was the infection she got at the time that could be easily transmitted to the dogs.

What we have at home were bits and pieces from old furniture, wire, baskets, pipes, insulation boards and my skillful boyfriend created special corner for Furry. It was made in layers so she can climb and use the pipe as a tunnel. It was rearranged several times, keeping her busy to play and investigate. Now looking at the pictures, that DYI cat house does not look pretty but it has served well for the purpose of keeping the cat safe.

Furry was growing fast and that place of hers became smaller. The pipe she used to get inside or out was not big enough. Thanks to the vets Furry was cured from the infection and could be left to roam in her new domain, aka our apartment.

New arrangement we made to make her climb as we knew how cats prefer the higher spots and again with the DYI skills we had post made of sponges, boxes of different sizes and a basket to move around as she can sleep in it.

Her bed was this basket. Quite comfy.

She was so tiny, she can fit in my hand

The basket can be moved any place where she is happy to stay.

She is still fitting in it. Or better to say she was. Now she is not using it any more. 😀

Still she needed a proper house. And here is her special posh house we got from the lottery organized by the food supplier. Isn’t she lucky? The three biggest prizes for buying cat food came to us – the house, the scratching board and ceramic plate.

Do you think that boxes can be part of the furniture? I say yes. Also her favourite grass bowl 😀

Anyway Furry has the freedom to be in every place at home, almost in every place. 😉
