To capture the full dynamic range of a sunrise or sunset it's often necessary to take multiple exposures of different exposure time and later blend them. To get a clean exposure blend I use Luminosity Masks in Photoshop.
But the exposure blending work in Photoshop is only the second step. In order to achieve high quality results it's important to prepare the individual images appropriately.
In this video tutorial I show you a technique I've been using lately to prepare and blend exposures, which makes the blend very easy. It's all about equalizing the brightness of the photos in Lightroom. This later allows blending with a 100% brush in Photoshop. It's no longer needed to build up the blend and to try and align the exposures in Photoshop.
In the tutorial I'm using Luminosity Masks and Lumenzia during the exposure blending. I have links to some tutorial videos, in which I show how to create Luminosity Masks, as well as a link to Lumenzia available on this dedicated tutorials page.
I don't know why I haven't implemented this technique earlier into my workflow. It makes exposure blending much more straight forward and everything just fits. I hope you will also give it a try.
