USA roadtrip: Exploring New York on foot | Day 1

Remembering the nickname of New York – The City that never sleeps – we expected to arrive in a crowded, busy and hectic city. During our three days in New York we enjoyed New York as a very pleasant and nice city.

Even if New York is a very big city we can recommend to explore the city on foot. Sure, you have to walk long distances but in our opinion it’s the best option to explore the city and feel its spirit. One requirement therefore is a hostel or hotel in a good location. We stayed in Chinatown, where the prices are quite affordable. A good compromise is to walk to your destination and drive back with the Metro. So you will see pretty much of the city and don’t waste too much time.

A must-do is walking through the Central Park. It’s so amazing to have such a big and green park in the middle of New York.

Not only on hot summer days a visit of the American Museum of Natural History is cool. Even if you aren’t a fan of museums you will see interesting stuff and will spend easily more than 2 or 3 hours.

Before dusk you should go on a skyscraper to watch the sunset. We went on the Rockefeller Center because from there you can see the Empire State Building and also have nice view of the Central Park. The entrance is with about 30 – 35 $ quite expensive as New York itself.

After a long day and hurting legs we were starving, so we needed some fast food at a Wendy’s. Don’t miss the Baconater there ;)
