USA roadtrip: Lake Michigan & Chicago in 412 m height

After the night in the pub we decided to give our second day in Chicago a lazy start: Straight in the morning we headed to the Montrose Beach at Lake Michigan. The beach is located a few miles in the North of Chicago, so you have a nice view of the skyline from there.

It’s a very long and wide beach so you will find a spot even in summer. It also has a dog friendly area ;)

Beneath the beach is a park where you can watch many different birds, flowers and plants. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t perfect that day and we had some kind of mist along the coast, which was a real view and sun blocker.

The second part of the day we headed back in the city to go on the highest building of Chicago and the second highest building in the US: Willis Tower (Sears Tower).

For about 20 bucks you can go on the visitor platform which is in the height of 412 m and has a special glass balcony. Even with the misty weather the view down the city and Lake Michigan was spectacular.

As our last to-do in Chicago we had to eat a Chicago-style Pizza. Therefore we can recommend Giordano’s, which is famous for its stuffed deep dish pizzas. This pizza was recommended for 2-3 persons ;)
