Since I don't have the opportunity to travel to new places all the time (yet anyways), I wanted to create a series of posts to show some of the interesting things in and around where I live - Oslo, Norway. I figured what better place to start than one of my favorite parks in the city, the Ekeberg Sculptur Park, home of some of the most interesting art around, as well as a heck of a view of the city center and harbor:
When it comes to the sculptures, the artists here haven't held anything back. There is often not much left to the imagination, as with this squatting woman who, when the weather is warm enough, actually pees about every minute. I'll spare you from the anatomical details (which are very detailed I might add), but here she is in peeing position:
Since this is New Year's Day, the weather was far too cold for that type of display, but the rotting corpses nearby don't take a break:
There's no shortage of nudity in art around Oslo. This particular one seemed to be rather sexual in nature, but, upon closer inspection, it is uncertain:
Your guess is as good as mine as to what this is:
And then there's some works that require a short video to demonstrate what they are. These are some of the best pieces in the park:
There are even more great works in this quirky little art park, as well as some other unique features including pre-historic ruins and a WWII memorial, but I don't have time for all of them here. So next time you find yourself in Oslo, be sure to make a visit here - you will not be disappointed!
