This is Neechy and I'm excited to share this photo with you all not because it's especially exciting (though he is obviously adorable) but because I DIDN'T share it through Steemit.com!
Steemit.com Is Just the Beginning
I shared that photo using one of the first of the next wave of applications being developed by 3rd party developers (@busy and @zappl being two more) which leverage the Steem Protocol, just like Steemit.com does. Instead of a blogging platform the @steepshot team created a photo-sharing mobile application that's kind of like Instagram and which allows Steem users (which every Steemit.com and Busy.org user already is) to share their photos with the world! It's called Steepshot and so far it looks really good! You can download the app here.
If you want to learn more about Steepshot you can check out their post here: @steepshot/steepshot-ios-alpha-0-0-1
Steemit is an App: STEEM is a PLATFORM
Steepshot highlights an important point that many people new to Steemit.com probably don't realize which is that Steemit.com is just a user interface for a decentralized database protocol called the Steem Blockchain. When you create an account on Steemit.com, you're actually creating an account on a blockchain like Bitcoin or Ethereum, it's just a lot easier and far more user friendly.
Turn-key Monetization for Developers
Steemit.com is the user interface the Steemit Team created to show off this awesome technology, but anyone can build any kind of app they can think of to help Steem users upload, share, and monetize their content. When you build a Steem app you can tap into Steem's sign up process, data storage capabilities, and most importantly its ability to reward people for sharing their content while allowing the app developer to take a percentage of that revenue.
Great job so far @steepshot team! Keep up the great work!
