We took a walk around the neighborhood the other day and I wanted to share with you the pictures of the flowers I found. Most of them have a beautiful color and are pretty enough for a bouquet of flowers on the table. They all grow wild, no one takes care of them. Seeing all these beautiful flowers reminded me of a great Bible verse where Jesus tells us not to worry. What good does worrying really do?
Matthew 6:25-34
26Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap or gather into barns—and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his lifespan?
28And why do you worry about clothes? Consider how the lilies of the field grow: They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was adorned like one of these.
30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
32For the pagans pursue all these things, and your Heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.
34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.
That last verse sums it up nicely. Today has enough trouble of its own, why add more to it by worrying about tomorrow. This is a perfect reminder as we are all frantically trying to finish our Christmas shopping and worrying about getting the perfect gift.
Enjoy today. Stop to smell (or just look at) the flowers!
