Following on from my previous historical post ( you can read that here if you wish @beautifulbullies/900-year-old-church) where I visited the burial ground of his former lover Mary Chaworth, I decided to take a trip to the resting place of famous poet, Lord Byron (1788 - 1824).
HUCKNALL, NOTTINGHAMSHIRE, ENGLAND, UK
Hucknall is a small market town located in North Nottinghamshire. It's original name was Hucknall Torkard, but become simply known as 'Hucknall' over the years.
Byron's resting place, St. Mary Magdalene Church...
I only just noticed this little fella watching me...
St. Mary Magdalene Church is the location of Lord Byron's remains. He is burried with his daughter, Ada, Countess of Lovelace.
A memorial is set into the ground to commemorate his life, complete with a fitting poem...
Hucknall is full of history, culture and modern art, the perfect place for Lord Byron to come home to...
And after a day of wandering around absorbing the local sites, what better way is there to relax, than to stop off at one of the local Olde English Pubs for a hot chocolate...
I hope you enjoyed our little trip today!
