I’d like to introduce you to Jinhae in South Korea. This town is probably the best place in Korea to see the spring cherry blossoms.
The Yoshino Cherry trees aren’t native to Korea, but were introduced by the Japanese during the occupation of the peninsular (1910-1945).
These pictures weren’t taken this year, but are from a visit I made to Jinhae a few years ago when the blossoms were in full bloom. I started my tour at Yeojwacheon Stream, which is lined with cherry trees and has picturesque bridges.
Then I went to the unique Gyeonghwa Station. The railway line is flanked by cherry trees. Here visitors risk getting hit by a train to have their photo taken with the train and blossoms in the background.
As it started to get dark I headed back to the stream which is beautifully lit up at night in rainbow colours. I had my tripod, so I was able to get my favourite photo of the day.
The cherry blossoms are in full bloom in Korea right now, but the best is still to come. Next week the blossoms will fall from the trees and when it does, it falls like snow. It’s a very romantic time. The blossom is on the trees for such a short time. I always feel a little sad once they're gone.
I hope you enjoyed these pictures. Thanks for reading.
