Overnight Camping To Photograph Mount Tomaree At Sunrise

I'm sure we are all aware that sometimes things don't go as planned.

@krystalfinnigan and I camped out over night on Zenith Beach (seen to the left in the top picture) so we could get up early and climb Mount Tomaree, which is about an hour north of Newcastle on Australia's east coast.

Tried to capture a decent image of our tent, the lighting of a cloudy night wasn't the best

After a night of constant rain and wind we managed to catch a break from the bad weather at about 5am, giving us just enough time to pack up camp and get to the car. We then drove to the car park at the bottom of the mountain and luckily the rain stopped just as we were thinking of giving up.

There are metal catwalks set into the side of the mountain, making it easier to ascend.

It was still very cloudy so we didn't manage to capture the typical bright sunrise shots. But the clouds and rain off shore made for some okay photos after a bit of editing.

Krystal spotted this kookaburra on the way back down the mountain

When planning for this trip we both imagined glorious sunrise photos taken with a blue sky and glistening water but sometimes things don't go as planned. We both had a great time none the less and always find excitement in getting out and taking photos no matter the conditions.
