For this photography challenge I decided to get out the speedlights (Canon 430 EX IIs) and play with some water.
I set the Speedlights to 1/32 and stopped down the aperture as well as putting a large piece of black paper behind the subject. Then I turned the faucet on in the sink, pointed it straight up and shot the water as it rose and fell!
The duration of the flash is what is important here: at 1/32 power, it gives the equivalent of about 1/10000 shutter speed (huge approximation, I was unable to find the exact stats) The same power setting on a SB-800, a similar flash by Nikon has 1/17800. This very high equivalent shutter speed, turns liquid water into glass.
And I shot it with my favourite macro lens to get extra close!
I hope you enjoy the results!

A wider crop of the first image, I feel it's composition is different enough to justify submitting it as entry 2.

Appearing for the briefest moment of time: a vision of a happy little holy icon.
