Mobile Views 03

Hello everyone,
this issue of mobile views will deal with

creation of patterns.

There is a nice technique everybody can apply to generate unseen patterns. We are dealing here with mobile photography. So you can play around with these techniques needing only a smart phone.
What you need is the

app "layout for instagram"

Step 1

Choose a photo which promises to transform into a vibrant pattern. Here are two examples. We will first choose the left image. It is a heap of broken glas covered with hoarfrost.
The right one will be taken for the next issue of mobile views.

Step 2

Choose a cutout from that shot. For symmetry reasons it can be important where to position peculiar edges or forms of the cut out. In my example it is crucial to have the left lower angle of that one piece of glas exactly on the left lower angle of the cutout. This will give a nice symmetry - for example, if you plan flipping the image to the left.

Step 3

Save that cutout and enter layout_app and select that cutout. You will finde several suggestions of partitions in the line at the top. Select the first one, where the partition is horizontally. Flip the top image with the horizontal-flip button.

And you will see a first symmetry emerging. Already this looks interesting.

Repeat the procedure, means save the new image and select it again. You have to select only one, so the suggestions of partitions in the top will show the same image repeated. There you can look through the differential options and chose something promising.

I just did the same thing only chose another partition scheme and came to this one.

I saved it and selected it again with the next partition - two parts side by side. Here I again flipped one side to create another interesting pattern.

Again "same procedure as every time..." It is like creating generations of generations. You feel a bit like the "God in Genesis" You are now the "God Of The Patterns".

Isn´t it a lovely pattern - print it out, print it on your t-shirt, on your car or what you like.

Or give it so someone to use it as canvas for carpets, curtains ... anything.

Patterns are like music. There is something repetitive which gives the feeling of knowing already - you feel good, because you feel orientated - but only this would make it boring, so the best is to insert some "noise", some spice, some chaotic element - that is here when you randomly select partitions.
The human mind likes these balanced pieces of art, where you have order mixed with the thrill of chaos. This is the narrow path humans like to go - it has two sides - it is like walking a path (order) near the cliff (chaos).
