The universal urge makes sure there are new butterflies and dragonflies to look at next year:

Meadow browns:

The metallic ones are not shy about it and like to do it in full sunlight:

Much more difficult to catch in the act are these black-tailed skimmers; they normally hide or mate while flying, so finding them on a tree is very unusual:
