Helmi, the cosiest café in Porvoo

During my three-days trip to Finland I was fortunate to visit the second-oldest town in the country, Porvoo (or Borgå, for Swedish speakers). The Old Town part of Porvoo is very charming, with plenty of small shops, cafés, restaurants and handicrafts boutiques. On the first night I had coffee and cakes with friends in what’s probably the loveliest and cosiest café in that area, Helmi:

Here are a few more photos from that place, for you to enjoy:

Don’t be afraid: this old gentleman doesn’t bite. He’s collecting tips.

The selection of cakes at the café was mind-boggling!

And as if the cakes by themselves weren’t enough of a treat, they were selling candies and soda too!

Of course, one would need a cup of coffee or tea to go with one of the delicious cakes pictured above. (in the mirror you can see a blurry reflection of this post’s author)

So, what do you think? Would you like to visit Porvoo and stop for a cup of coffee and a slice of cake at Helmi? Please share in the comments!
