What a beautiful lizard!
The Five Lined Skink is the first wild lizard that I ever encountered back in Wisconsin. I really enjoy their striking yellow and black body, and when you add the electric blue tail, it is utterly amazing. You really have to appreciate the incredible coloration of creatures like this.
On the hot Arkansas days, you will often hear these guys more often than you will see them. When their little bodies are heated up by the sun, they are super-fast and will run into rock piles and underbrush as soon as they see you, which makes it harder for you to see them. This one cooperated rather well for the photo shoot.
