Yaquina Head Lighthouse - Newport, Oregon
Owned by the US Department of the Interior: Bureau of Land Management, the lighthouse has been historically preserved
Built in the early 1870's, the 19-acre preserve was established in 1980
The coast line was originally formed by volcanic activity, creating cliffs of basalt
Remaining rock was formed 14 million years ago

*It was $7 to obtain a day-use permit (good for three days). The areas of recreation inlcude: the Lighthouse, Cobble Beach Stairway, and the Quarry Cove, Salal Hill, and Communications Hill Trails (and a tunnel) Which one is your favorite?
