Ciao seems like it might be the quintessential Italian word, one that is used and understood everywhere. It is to Italian what Aloha is to Hawaiian. There's only one problem with that, Ciao is not actually Italian! Ciao is a word from the Venetian language, which like Aloha, means both hello and goodbye.

This is my third and final post about Venice, and I return to my initial description -- it's a magical place. With this photo effect I hoped to convey the surreal experience of being in a literal water world , but the truth is, you must experience yourself.

In an earlier post I mentioned the option of getting a tourist pass for the water buses (as I think of them.) Here is a tip for you photographers. If you visit the outer islands or go beyond the main tourist areas, on the way back you can line up for the boat and make your way to the front. Sometimes you'll get lucky, but I discovered that I had much better luck going to the rear of the boat. From the back of the boat you can get shots like these.
In einem früheren Post erwähnte ich die Möglichkeit, einen Touristenpass für die Wasserbusse zu bekommen. Hier ist ein Tipp für euch Fotografen. Gute Fotos lassen sich vom hinteren Bereich der Wasserbusse machen (beim Maschinenraum wo keiner sein will.)
Allerdings sind in der Regel die Wasserbusse sehr voll. Was soll man dagegen machen? Die haupttouristischen Gebiete verlassen und die äußeren Inseln besuchen. Auf dem Rückweg hast Du dann gute Chancen einen optimalen Platz zu bekommen.
I liked this photo, but the original lighting was all wrong, so I used this effect I call the Alfred Hitchcock Effect. It doesn't really fit this narrative, but I like the result.
