Es ist ein unvergessliches Erlebnis, wenn man zum ersten Mal die Krimmler Wasserfälle besucht. Als ich das Auto in einiger Entfernung abgestellt hatte, war ich erstaunt, dass ich das Rauschen der Wasserfälle in der Ferne hören konnte, lange bevor sie sichtbar waren. 
It's an unforgettable experience when you visit the Krimmler Waterfalls for the first time. As I parked the car some distance away, I was amazed that I could hear the rumble of the falls in the distance long before they were visible.
Wenn man sich dem Wasserfall nähert, spürt man die Vibrationen, und den Sprühnebel des reinen Gletscherwassers im Gesicht. Die Lautstärke entspricht dem Volumen der Wasserkraft – man wird von „White Noise“ umgeben.
As you approach the base, you feel the vibration, and the spray of the pure glacial water. Because the volume of the water corresponds the the volume of the sound, you are enveloped in white noise.
Wenn man nicht wüsste, was zu erwarten ist, könnte man denken: Ist das Alles? Die große Überraschung ist, dass dieser Wasserfall eigentlich aus drei Ebenen mit einer kombinierten Höhe von fast 400 Metern besteht.
Unten merkte ich, daß mir ein anständiges Weitwinkelobjektiv fehlt. Ja, man kann den größten Teil des unteren Wasserfalls sehen, aber ich konnte die Hintergrundkulisse der Berge nicht miterfassen.
If you didn't know what to expect, your initial impression of the approximately 140 meter final falls might be: I thought it would be bigger. The BIG surprise is that this waterfall is actually comprised of three tiers with a combined height of nearly 400 meters (about 1250 feet.)
Above is a spot where I wished I had a serious wide angle lens. Yes you can see most of the lower waterfall, but I couldn't capture the backdrop of the mountains in the background. So I decided to turn my camera and take three photos in portrait mode and try and combine them later. Obviously it isn't much of a photo, but it does give you a bit more of an idea of what it is like to look at the base waterfall from one of the first lookout points.
Also entschied ich mich, meine Kamera einfach zu drehen und drei Fotos im Hochformat zu machen und sie später zu kombinieren. Zugegeben, es ist kein gutes Foto, aber es gibt euch einen besseren Eindruck wie es ist, den Wasserfall von einem der ersten Aussichtspunkte zu betrachten.
The trails are wide and well maintained, and there are lots of great lookout points along the way. Be warned, you're in for a walk that could also be described as a hike. You'll need comfortable shoes, walking boots would be a wise choice. About half way up there is a Gasthaus where you can get something to eat and drink.
Die Wege nach oben sind breit und gut gepflegt, und es gibt viele tolle Aussichtspunkte. Sei gewarnt, es ist eher eine Wanderung als ein Spaziergang. Man braucht bequeme Schuhe, Wanderschuhe wären eine kluge Wahl. Auf halber Höhe befindet sich ein Gasthaus, wo man etwas essen und trinken kann.
If you've followed my posts you know I am completely enthralled with the miracle known as water, especially crystal clear water from a mountain stream – thus this is about as good as it gets for me.
