Disappeared in the caves

Hello, such stemians, he sent greetings from Venezuela.

Today I share with you the photos of an adventure that I did a few months ago with some friends of the urban network, a project in which I am currently working on the creation of a school where we will teach everything related to urban art (also including sports) but that is topic for another day, this time we decided to take a break and we went to visit the caves of rolando located in the sector La Caraqueña de Guanta, in the state of Anzoátegui - Venezuela.

  • I want to clarify that on that occasion I did not use my camera because we were in a very rainy season and did not have equipment to protect it, so I used a compact camera which does not have good image quality, but at least resisted the abuse of the land.

I have already heard many times about this site since my family owns land about 15 minutes from where the road ends for vehicles and begins the dirt road where you have to walk about 30 minutes more to reach the entrances of the caves (there are 2), which I never thought it would be such an incredible experience, before continuing I want to tell you a little bit of the history of the caves.

These caves are named after the Rolando brothers who discovered them while fleeing from the dictator Marco Pérez Jiménez, who had given orders to kill them, they hid in the jungle and found these caves, which are known as the wet and dry because one is flooded with water, while the other no, these brothers decided to hide in this last one for several years for fear of being assassinated.

The part that most caught my attention in this cave are the impressive chasms formed by processes of dissolution of limestone, which allow light to enter through different points on the roof of the room known as "The Church" which is about 15 meters high, but at its highest point reaches 35 meters, as seen in the first photo.

Lots of water, mud, loose stones, bats and guacharos were part of the fun that day (not counting the screams of our friends for the bugs hahahaha).

In this photo I am accompanied by my best friend, who never misses these adventures for nothing, that day we almost lost it when a rock the size of a football broke loose and passed over his head as we went down the exit at the end of the dry cave, then spent the rest of the trip laughing at what happened, between armholes and jokes we were grateful because nothing bad happened.

After having descended by the exit at the end of the dry cave we made a small stop in the blue pool where we bathed to remove all the mud from above, when finishing we went by a path that took us about half an hour until arriving to the area called the 7 floors which owes its name to a series of waterfalls that are along the road, in which only managed to photograph the last of them.

I want to end by saying that I hope to come back soon (with my real camera) and take the pictures that were left waiting in my mind and I want you to go out and explore new places, if you are accompanied by good friends better, these experiences are the ones that give value to your life, I hope to tell this and many other things to my grandchildren to be old, as well as I want you to do it too.

  •     I hope you will dare to explore, don't forget to leave me your vote, tell me how you look and follow me here and in my instagram account: @samuel_film
