I shot this focus-stacked image of the compound eyes of an insect (I can't remember what it was), but it was either dead or hibernating because I was able to take many shots of it to create this image.
An Eye For An Eye
To achieve such a high magnification, I attached a 18-55mm lens in reverse to a 100mm macro lens. The result is that the 18-55mm becomes essentially like a magnifying glass, offering 5.56X magnification at 18mm and just under 2X at 55mm.
