I found this well camouflaged flower crab spider near Gilgil in Kenya. It was sitting on the petals of a pink flower waiting to ambush some unsuspecting insect that may come to look for a drink of nectar. Some of these remarkable little spiders have the ability to change colour to match the flowers they are hunting on.
I would never have found this guy if I hadn't taken a closer look - owning a good macro lense has encouraged me to do just that! People probably think I'm a bit crazy when they see me on my knees or crawling on the ground, examining some bush or patch of leaflitter in search of my subjects. My enthusiasm for macro photography is slowly turning me into a half decent amateur entomologist, something I think, I shall never grow tired of! :-)
